Soon it will be 2017. We can start with a clean slate and a year of many unknowns. Even though we don’t know what the coming year will bring, we can be assured that God has everything under control.
God does not want us to be in fear of the upcoming year, but to trust him with the details. The following scripture and quotes are meant to be of comfort and encouragement in helping you move forward through a new year.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17
Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:18-19
“A person who never made a mistake, never tried anything new.” Albert Einstein
“The love of family and the admiration of friends is much more important than wealth and privilege.” Charles Kuralt
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25
“The object of a New Year is not that we should have a new year. It is that we should have a new soul.” G. K. Chesterton
“To reach up for the new, you must let go of the old. What lies behind you is not nearly as important as what lies in front of you.” Joel Osteen
“Glory to God in highest heaven, who unto man his son hath given; while angels sing with tender mirth, a glad New Year to all the earth.” Martin Luther
So then Christian brothers, because of all this, be strong. Do not allow anyone to change your mind. Always do your work well for the Lord. You know whatever you do for him will not be wasted. 1 Corinthians 15:58
“If this is to be a Happy New Year, a year of usefulness, a year in which we shall live to make this earth better, it is because God will direct our pathway. How important then is to feel our dependence upon him.” Matthew Simpson
“Renewal is rooted in faith, not in resolutions! They are made for New Year’s forgotten on an average of thirteen days later, say the surveys. Faith is a result of a decision about Christ. I cannot make a new me or a new you, but Christ can make you new and me new, as well, if we decide for him.” Frank Harrington
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom. Psalm 90:12
For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for well-being and not for trouble, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
“Learn from the past and use it as a tool to start another year without fear.” Unknown
“God is our strength. Let him be the strong foundation of our life so that we will not stumble when things go bad.” Unknown
Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper, or fret about their wicked schemes. Psalm 37:7
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Mark Twain
Happy New Year Blessings!
